Sandra Schneiders essay

In this essay Sandra makes a very comprehensive defense of the women religious of the US against the Vatican visitation, and she explains how religious congregations are prophetic witnesses...a long read but worth the time.

Excellent! I read Part 1 just now and sent it to a few friends of mine. There were so many points to ponder, not just specifically about women in the Church but also about Jesus' upsetting the systems of power. Over the next few days, I'll have to read the rest of it.

Are there any mixed sex new religious orders that take the call of liminality seriously? I am interested in joining a religious order but feel that most of the male order are either too clerical. I would like something more prophetic than that does not necessaroily have Vaticcan approval. Heard of anything? Great blog by the way.

D.White wrote about mixed sex new religious orders which requires a whole new set of characteristics for defiition. New lay communities are already a reality. Check out the book
